Top performing senior high school students should bear in mind that the U.S. Army is a substantial source of college scholarships. The Army, Air Force, and Navy dedicate a thousand dollars annually to providing financial aid to aspiring military officers.

ROTC Scholarships

The huge majority of ROTC scholarships have been awarded to high school seniors who want to attend college after graduating from high school. The student has to be accepted with a college that features a ROTC unit or participates in a ROTC program at a nearby college. College students affiliated with the ROTC are required to engage in military training several hours per week and successfully complete delegated military leadership courses. ROTC students are permitted to live the life span of a typical scholar while they plan military service.

Following graduation from college, ROTC officer candidates can look forward to service being an officer from the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines.

Unlike many other student programs, ROTC scholarships are primarily based on merit as opposed to financial need. If necessary, ROTC students can apply for additional scholarships. Most ROTC scholarships have been for a span of four decades, although a few two and high-income universities are available for aspiring military officers who’ve not yet joined a ROTC unit. The standard four-year student is awarded to senior high school students based on the consequences of a stringent federal competition.

Every year, approximately 4,000 deserving ROTC applicants have been selected from over 25,000 applicants. Four decades of active duty service is necessary for Navy, Air Force, and Marine ROTC officer candidates.

To be qualified for a ROTC student, the applicant has to be accepted at a college that takes ROTC scholarship students. Interested high school seniors have been advised to submit applications a number of ROTC-affiliated schools to increase the odds to be accepted in a desirable area of analysis. The Army and Air Force usually demand ROTC students to pursue a particular plan of study.

Senior high school students may improve their chance to be selected for a ROTC scholarship by taking four decades of mathematics and English, three or four decades of a language, and a substantial quantity of lab science classes. Taking honors classes whenever potential will also prove helpful. Keeping up a B + grade average or higher and ending at the upper 15% of your graduating class can be suggested. Compiling an SAT score of 600 in mathematics and critical reading and also perhaps a combination score of 28 on the ACT exam is also favorable.

Joining the National Honors Society, holding elective office in pupil, and engaging in varsity athletics are certain assets. ROTC scholarships have been awarded for the best over all students from the annual crop of graduating high school seniors.
